How would you describe what you do at HealthSparq?
HealthSparq makes an app that increases transparency for consumers about health care, and I make sure that the app makes sense for users and is easy to use.

What’s your favorite part about working here?
Hands down, all the people and the culture here – I really like it. The people here are really brilliant, talented professionals, but everyone across all teams is super conversational, casual and make it fun to work here.

What’s one interesting fact about you?
I don’t tolerate caffeine, so when I get tired around the office, I skip around or do jumping jacks.

If you could make one prediction for the future of health care, what would it be?
I’d like to see health care be a lot more affordable. With the rise of so much health-related technology, I think health care is going to become a lot more preventative.

Northon Rodrigues

Title: Director of Engineering for Product Development
Joined HealthSparq: November 2013
Based in: Portland
Hometown: For me, home now is Oregon City, OR

How would you describe what you do at HealthSparq?
I add value. I guide our technology to develop the revolutionary tools we’re building that change the way people interact with health care. I’m also working to build on the talents of our teams and organize them to align our people, efficiency and product road map.

One is too small of a number for greatness, but one is also an essential number for greatness. You need a team to make something great. But each individual member is essential and each can make a difference, so it’s essential.

What’s your favorite part about working here?
Ability to create, build people and reinvent. Our engineers are world class. If you look at the value proposition of HealthSparq, culture and people are part of it. It’s not just a technology company. We have the ability to create and help people grow.

What’s one interesting fact about you?
I love to explore – I’ve ridden an elephant bareback and have been kissed by a dolphin. I almost fell off the elephant, but I did it!

If you could make one prediction for the future of health care, what would it be?
People will make smarter choices on a daily basis, because each day matters (and they need to understand that). People will make choices based on data and a transformation will occur. People will no longer be at the mercy of the provider.

Srihari Muthyala

Title: Engineering Manager
Joined HealthSparq: From Day 1! I was one of the founding 13 and was in Cambia for 10 years before that.
Based in: Portland, OR
Hometown: Hydrabad, India

How would you describe what you do at HealthSparq?
I work closely with our product and implementation teams to prioritize the business needs for our clients. I give technical details and support to help people make decisions.

One of the causes we really care about here are the people, so I want to provide good support to my team and grow the team’s strengths. As a people manager, I focus on how I can support my team so they can deliver what we ask of them, and so they can develop as professionals to excel.

What’s your favorite part about working here?
I really enjoy our leadership team here. It inspires me, and our really talented team of engineers motivate me. I trust them and their vision for the company.

What’s one interesting fact about you?
I love watching movies, but my wife doesn’t. So, I’ll pretend I’m sleeping so that I can sneak out to watch movies when my wife and baby are asleep.

If you could make one prediction for the future of health care, what would it be?
I think what’s going to happen is that gadgets in the future and the data they collect will really help for preventive care. Gadgets and data will help people take care of themselves much faster by knowing things earlier. Health care will get more personal and technology will help us get there.
